Hi Legends of the Audi world - I have an 2018 Audi A3 with 60,000 kms on clock. A while ago I hit a rut in the road where somebody had dug across road and back filled - the car bottomed out at around 40 kms an hour. After this on the highway I noticed a whirring sound at exactly 100 kms per hour - sounded rotation but didn't increased or decrease at different speeds but disappeared at around 95 and 110k. This continued for a couple of months and as I was due for service I had the car fully serviced by an Audi dealer who said they found no issues. The tyres were due for replacement so I had them replaced with Pirelli Dragon Sport 225/ 40R18 92W XL, balanced and aligned. The report from the fitter was that there were buckles in the mags. I had the mags re-rolled by a reputable repairer advising me three wheels needed re-rolling and in their opinion all mags had come up great. On the journey home I noticed that the car made the same whirring noise at 70klms an hour and at 100klms an hour with the 70K being a quieter noise that disappeared at around 80k and the 100k noise slightly louder and disappeared at around 110k. Have checked tyre pressures and took back to mag repairer who acknowledged there was both rotation noises present however they didn't increase in noise as the rotational speed of wheels and tyres increased in speed. He also didn't believe it was wheel bearings. The noise it makes to me resembles the noise of an old school universal joint that was shot. Am now $2500 and wanting stop chasing shadows. Do any of the wise people on this site have any concrete ideas. Located Qld Australia. thanks for your assistance
