Why dosen't the U.S. get the 2 door version of the A3?

 

because we arent cool enough for the S3. S3 wont pass emissions test here

 

There's lots of marketing "experts" who claim that hatchbacks will only sell in the US as economy cars, and Audi probably doesn't want to be considered in that company.Andit would be even more of a direct competitor to VAG's own VW Rabbit and GTI. Yes, I know that the 4-door GTI is very similar to the A3 that we get, but tends to appeal to a younger audience. The A3 Sportback has the benefit of being considered by some (me among them) as a small wagon or significantly more practical version of a TT.
