Two issues (Open Sky Sunroof and Cooling CEL)
Hi all,
First time poster, hoping to get a little advice. I'm moving to Australia and need to sell my ride in a few months and trying to get a few things fixed before selling.
First thing:I recently found out my sunroof on my 2006 A3 is broken. I took to the dealer and they want to charge $3500 to fix the frame and the motor.
I found a used sunroof assembly for $500. Does anyone know of any posts related to the repair/replacement of the sunroof? I've tried my best and haven't found anything. Dealer claims 6.5 hours, maybe someone can shed some light on work involved?
Second thing: I have the CEL on for a cooling system malfunction. I changed the Coolant temp sensor but continued to have issues. It sometimes works for like a week then I get a dead gauge. I will note the sensor i got was from Autozone.
Now the dealer says the issue is the still the sensor, but not sure to believe that since I already changed it. I have the feeling that it is the thermostat but they say it seems to be working fine. Do I have them go ahead and change the sensor and risk having the CEL stay on and having to go back or do I just tell my local mechanic to change the thermostat and be done with it? I know this is an issue with many older A3's so I just want to get some advice on this.
Appreciate any help the community can provide.

On the sunroof #16 runs 1459.15 list and 1176.08 your price, plus shipping. It includes all items within the bracket but really consists of nothing large except for the sunroof frame and the glass #3. The motor #9 is 612.00 retail, 455.33 your price. I don't know the labor to replace the assembly though.
The 2 pin temp sender at the back of the head is 06A-919-501-A for 24.42, plus o ring 1.13 and plastic clip .62, the sender is a popular part replaced often. I mention this in case you want to try an OEM Audi switch instead of staying with the aftermarket one.
