I'm looking - at a distance, as my closest dealer is 1+hr.

I have nearly 100k on Ford Escape, 50k on ML320 and lots less on P-Boxster. I have another real truck but use a car like a truck. I haul dogs, kiteboard, surf gear and bikes and generally leave lots of sand in the interior.

Is the A3 too prissy for that? Perhaps too 'nice' may be a better way to say it... No way would I take the Box to the beach for instance.

It'd be interesting to hear what you also considered..

I looked at the R32 VW. But I also considered the Passat. I can't find *any* vehicle that is that similar to the A3 anywhere. Especially when looking at performance and price.
