Hi

When l feel the need for speed l just jump into my C5 (385 rhp) and nail it.

Alan

so this is helping him how????

When i want speed I strap about 50 million of those little model rocket engines on some roller skates and AWAY I GO. And I wear one of those ridiculous speed suits that the top speed skiers wear so I can turn and to stop I just use an air brake.

sorry that was rude, but I don't like vette's that much, especially the C5 and you shouldn't try and jack his thread.

I have to disagree. i have a chipped K03 with a K&N filter in the airbox, new plugs and O2 sensors and i average 28 mpg. It's all in the setup and the ECU programming. If ford can do it with a twin turbo V6 you can power through it with a 4 liter single turbo.

1.8T on Quattro will be like a sloth at low RPM, and hard to go through low speed traffic when using a manual. Because it doesn't have any good torque to use under 2,000 rpm. With 5 speed MT, you'll have to push it past 3,300 rpm to get to next gear and still keep the torque band to keep accelerating.

I suppose the 3.0 will not have torque issue at low speed traffic.

I wish I had a 1.8T with 6 speed. Now I'll have to think about cost on a swap.

Threads like this always make me stop my search and wonder. I'm really only looking at the 1.8's now but I don't have alot planned for performance since this would be an extra car used mostly for business.

If the 2.8 gets better mpg, and sure as hell sounds SOOO much better with an aftermarket exhaust I might have to look into them again. Provided they are as reliable and no harder to work on.

I'm just looking for max MPG, reliability and of course ease of DIY(By Audi standards) This is a 3rd car for work so not interested in mods besides maybe some springs and 18's. For power I would hands down hold out for a blue S4.

you will get better mpg from a turbo.
Ease of DIY... It's german manufacturing so the work area is tight, so doing all the basics is easy, but anything major have an after market show with good rates.

You are getting a lot more out of the s4, but as a third car the a4 will save you 10k easy and you can get better parts then what is in the s4, minus the V8, but there is not fuel savings there.
