Default 1.8T or V6

Hello all! New here its a great site and lots of info, anyway I'm looking at buying an Audi A4 for my first car (currently have a truck). I know they are spendy when they break and are a bit to maintain but I'm very mechiancly inclined and know my way around motors and drive trains and am getting real good with electronics! So the reason for switching to car is that I'm moving to AZ in Sept and need something with way better gas mileage and don't need a truck tell I'm done with school! I like the Audi's and just don't know what is going to be better for me an 1.8T or the 2.0? V6,I want something that will get up and go and that handles nicely and has some hp to back it up but also that will cruise right along on the highways and interstate's and wont have that factor should i pass them or not! I have read what to look for and ask for when looking at buying ine just need some pointers on which will be better for me, maybe and A6?

Thanks Kyle,

well it depends on what you want to do with it.

If you want a modable car, then get the 1.8t

If you want a stunter then get the 2.8 V6

It sounds like you are going for gas mileage so I would say the 1.8t.

Sure about that? Seems like most of the highest mpg ratings lately are coming from us 2.8 owners. The 1.8 guys all mod their cars and end up with a healthy fuel appetite lol. I'm getting 32mpg reliably on 93 octane gas on the highway

definitely 1.8t. check out my sig for my mod list. I'm still gettin 31 mpg. It was only around 28 mpg before the APR. maybei just got lucky? if your planningany mods, the 1.8 is way better. The 2.8 (b5 v6) and the 3.0 (b6 v6)make a little more power stock butare not as mod friendly. I never keep anything stock so if your like me you want the 1.8t! Just my input.

absolutely. Actually 1.8t's run best on the highway and in passing. you don't even have to downshift just hit the gas and let the turbo do the work!! BOOST BABY!! LOL!

yeah the car definately won't be slow, but if you want a bit more oomph, then definately get a chip, some common brands are ARP/Oettinger, GIAC, REVO others; PES, maybe Unitronic...
I would definately buy a 1.8t with the chip if you want the power, instead of V6.

if you wanted a V6 and didnt mind spendingALOT more than a chip, then id get the 2.8 and put a PES supercharger on it. with more dollars the 1.8t is also an option, you can fit a big turbo.

you can find lots of info by using the search button.
