P0033
code 00051 P0033 TURBO CHARGER BYPASS VALVE CONTROL CIRCUIT
on the inlet side of the turbo there's a solenoid type of valve that diverts the high pressure air when you close the throttle - also known as a 'dump valve'

the valve is a simple 2 wire device so 1st unplug it and inspect the wire for damage and the connector for corrosion

if this looks OK then I'd suggest replacing the valve as they're not too expensive

P0243
P0243 Volkswagen - Turbo/Super Charger Wastegate Solenoid 'A'

Possible causes

- Faulty wastegate solenoid
- Wastegate solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Wastegate solenoid circuit poor electrical connection

What does this mean?

Possible symptoms

- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P0243 Volkswagen Description

The ECM has detected a signal outside parameters on the wastegate solenoid circuit

I say take it back to the mechanic as it looks like they didn't hook everything back up correctly.
