Is 40% tint worth getting?
I've got a silver B6, and ever since I've had it I wanted tints on it, because there isn't tinted glass at all. Now, I know there are plenty of threads about tints and I've read some of them, but my question is a bit specific. CT tint laws allow 35% tint, and as far as I know the glass does have about 90-95% already on it, because otherwise it would be clear glass and sun would be too much. The tint shop has 40%, 35%, 20%, 5%. It says the 40% is legal, and all others are illegal. I like the medium, dark but not too-dark, 35% tint, and I've seen plenty of pictures of all shades of tint, but I've never heard of anybody getting 40%, and I haven't seen any good pictures of it.
Is the difference b/w 40% and 35% noticeable, because if not, then I might as well stay within the law to aviod getting a ticket (I know some people who have gotten tickets in my area for tints). The shop charges $260 for all the windows, with a lifetime warranty, the place is reputable and it's been in business for about 30 years. Is getting 40% tint even worth it, or should I get darker tints since I'm already paying so much for them

i have 35% and its nice... but not dark enough. my friend has 20% and its amazing... the car is soo much cooler than mine in the summer and the legal limit is 35% in ny, and he hasn't been pulled over since he got em last year. the only time a cop is going to hastle you, is if you're driving like an ***, and he needs a reason to pull you over / inflate your ticket, or if you get some dangerous tint like 10% or 5%limo tints
go dark or go home!

I forgot to say, my main reason for wanting tints is the exterioir look, then sun protection coming next. To me, 5% looks beautiful but it's too dark to see at night. 20% looks amazing also, but the cops around here don't think so. From the pics I've seen online, 35% looks great on A4's, and it's what I would prefer. I just haven't seen any cars with 40%, if it's close to 35 than I'm fine, but if it's really light than I'll go with 35.
Also, I know someone who got pulled over for tints alone, and his were 20%. I'm thinking that if they were 35%, I wouldn't get pulled over for the tints, but might get an inflated ticket if I'm pulled over for speeding or something.

Personally I'm not a fan of the super dark tint, when I cruise by a group of chicks I want them to know who drives that amazing car they are drooling over. In all seriousness though I had 35% on my last car and it was fine for me, helped block UV rays but still able to see in and out very easily. I know a lot of you guys love your dark tint, and it looks good on many cars, just not my thing personally. I would stick with the 40%
I got 2% and I used to get pulled over all the time. I have a doctors note though so I get off. If you want it for looks the darker the better. But you may have to stick your head out the window to backup at night. Also I have to keep my parking lights on all the time so I can see my dash.
I've pretty much ruled out going dark. It's between 35 and 40. If someone has pics of each, I'd like to compare. Is 40% close enough to 35, or will 35 look better enough to justify the risk of getting a ticket?
