JK! - go with the 35-40, be legal, be happy. There was a thread on here not to long ago, a guy that cut somebody off, and the lady cop gave him all kinds of ****, wrote him tickets for his tint, his dark tailights, headlights, anythis else she could find wrong.
Breaking the tint law gives them 1 more reason to pull you over, or *** with you.
Where I live, the cops love to pull you over for stupid sh*t like that, keeps threir quotas up or something.

Thanks for the opinions and the pictures, I'm most likley gonna go 40%. I'd love for a cop to try to ticket me for tints and then they measure up legal, and I would hate for the opposite to happen.

Should I get darker tints for the rear window? It's legal to have as dark as you want on the back, and I'd love the extra privacy from the people driving behind me (I hate that people can see every move I make in my car when they're behind me), but I'm not sure that mixing darkness all on the same car would look good.

 

Does the limit only apply to the front windows?

That's the case here in utah. So I have 40% on the fronts, then 20% on the back (passengers) windows, and 20% - or maybe even darker on the back windshield.

That may be an option. You can see my pic (kind of) to get a feel for how it looks. I think it looks really nice, and having dark tint in the back makes the front tint appear darker than it really is.

 

I've got 35... my car came with it. I've never been really happy with it, and have often considered getting it re-done... if I do, I'll be torn between 20 and 35... I've had both, and love both... tough call for sure.
I was never bothered by the cops for having 20%.
I'd never get anything lighter than 35, though.

 

i would LOVE 5%, but in reality...the pigs around here love to hassle for tint, so it'll be 5% on the back window ( btw, thats legal i belive in all states) and 15% on the sides...bawlin.

 

I just got 35% on mine. Looks great, and well worth it.

law here is 35 percent, i have 20 percent. 35 just isnt worth paying for.

we dont care about tint, some state troopers might, but thats rare. Just dont tint your windshield because that WILL get you pulled over. If you go 5 percent thats kinda askin for it too.

pigs is kind of out dated isnt it? What are you 12? And 5 percent on the back window is NOT legal is almost EVERY state. You are thinking of factory suvs and vans, family vehicles expected to have children in the back who would be bothered by sunlight.

 

cali is 75% front (which is not worth it imho, im going with like 30% front and 10% back) How do you think that would look on a silver b6?

I would go with 35%, its darker than the 40%, and you could probably talk your way out of a ticket. Just say you got 35% cus thats what the law says. The slight factory tint is negligable.
