87 octane in 3.0
I'm stock for now, but would rather play it safe and do what the damn owner's manual and gas tank lid says to do..91. It's not worth saving a few cents a gallon to have trouble with a 5-digit $ amount engine..

I only use 91-93 Sunoco/BP, whichever the highest at that gas station is.
I drive my car pretty hard at times, and the higher grade runs smoother. And the price difference isnt worth getting the shitty stuff.

i usually use 89 octane but my ECU must be older or something because on it the AKI is only 87. but thats just me. btw while i do drive a 96 a4 the build date is in mid 95 so it really has a audi 90 engine and ECU
