Default 97 A4 1.8tq auto Pil Leak Problem

Hey Guys,

So I first found out about my oil leak problem a month after buying the car (around end October). I took it to my private audi mechanic (www.gocpt.com) and he said that the leak was not huge and I would be fine if I checked the oil weekly and filled it accordingly. This was because I was strapped on cash and I travel a lot for work, so the car is driven like 50 miles a week mostly on weekends.

I did take the car to the stealer in November for some recall work on the lower control arms and they checked the leak and said the following needs to be changed:
- Crank Case Ventilation tube: $353.26 <-- dealer price
- Cam Adjuster Seal and Cam Seals : $722.14 <-- dealer price

Now I think the oil leak has increased signifcantly and was wondering if you guys think I should pay the dealer another 100 bucks to look at it or is this a common problem?

Thanks,
Q

Cam adjuster and cam seals are a common leak. Depending on what pcv hose it is it could also be a common failure.
