I recently bought a 99 audi a4, think its the quattro 2.8, its a v6. it has about 140 thosand miles.

Sometimes when i engage the clutch, say coming to a red light, behind another vehicle or a stop sign. the car shuts off on me. regardless if its below 1000RPM or just a tad above 1000RPM.

I even tried to quickly shift the gear back into neutral, but the same thing happens. im not why sure it does this or the cause.

ps;my engine light is on, they said it has something to do with the valve cap or something. the dealer charges $1,000 dollars to fix it but of course i paid 80 dollars for an inspection sticker. i paid 2800 for the car there is no way that im gonna spend 1000 dollars on some cap. n i dont even know if thats the issue.

pps, the car drives great, shifts good, grabs the clutch well. speedometer dont really work right tho once u pass the 70mph mark.
