That is interesting. I_just picked up my 2000 1.8T Quattro (48k miles, silver, black interior, 5spd) ...and within the first day heard the 'pop' sound when turning slow at first, now (not all the time) when I pull out in 1st gear I hear it as well....So I am sure I have the control arm problem. Should I go to the dealership? Or do you reccomend a solid euro repair shop? I would think the dealship 'knows best' with a car like this ($$$ tho).

The OEM Part is expensive (some 300++), So I did a search on ebay. Is this the same part? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Item number: 7918070445

?? Any idea are appreciated. I bought the car to tune....so maybe a good time to start on the suspension?

If the car is less than 4 years old, you are under warranty. The origonal date delivered is used.

Are you sure? I was told the 2000 has a *3 year warantee not 4/50K. Please tell me I'm mistaken!

looked at the warranty....on the 00 it is 3yr 50k. Can someone look at the ebay link and advise if that is the correct part?

Don't know if that is the correct part. Certainly it is a lower control arm, but I don't know whether your problem is the upper or lower control arm, or whether the noise you hear is caused by an issue with the control arms. Price isn't all that great either, as it doesn't say who manufactured it.

Have someone diagnose the problem before you start replacing parts. If it is the front end, you might even want to consider replacing the entire set, rather than replacing control arms one at a time until the right part is replaced.

If your hearing that only on cornering it is most likely the control arm,try and have someone look at it to see if its lower or upper.
