My car has Quattro and it definitely handles great in the heavy rains we get down here (never tried it in the snow). I will say though that Quattro really doesn't hold a candle to Subaru's AWD, which I guess is to be expected.
Youll change your mind on that after you get into some snow. Quattro is the ultimate AWD system. Its old technology that 20 + years later still out does the competition. Its a purely mechanical system, meaning there are no sensors/wires involved with it. Its an amazing thing, like little people.

addition to everyones comment if you are looking for handling you could lower the car about an inch it would be great handling. but if you are looking for handling in the wet or snowing weather, i have droven an bmw m3, vw gti, and 350z. none of them come near the quattro. test drive one if you could passing everyone during raining weather is great. i cant explain it go try one out.

Next time it snows in Houston, I'll be ready.

I have 03 1.8T Quatttro. Sport package. Got caught in big storm up in Sequoias in May. Even with sport Pirellis, car handled well in snow and ice when other cars were stuck waiting for chains. Car handles like a dream. Only problem I've had in 15K miles (bought at 37K) is a defective fuel pump that should have been replaced, but wasn't.
