A4 Project need some insight.
Hello Audi fans. I got 1 year left on my Toyota lease, hoping to have an A4 ready by then. I found a 2001 A4 1.8T for sale $3,000 which needs engine work. Since I was planning to strip the engine and rebuild it, this is the deal I am looking for. I have rebuild engine in the past, but never German. In fact last engine rebuilt was on a modular 4.6L DOHC from a 2001 crown victoria. My number 1 concern is of course the cost for the build. Since its a German and not a domestic, will parts be an issue?
Anyone here with experience in rebuilding these engines. My plan is to rebuild the entire engine, new crack shaft, cams, heads, pistons, rings, rods, bearings, bolts, valves, everything internal. If the crank shaft is in fact in good shape I might just have it turned, same goes for the cam, unless I want an after market cam. Also I may consider injectors, that will depend on the turbo.
Performance wise, I may consider to keep the turbo off, if not then I have to build accordingly.
Body wise, I really like the look of the A4 on wide body kit, and some good rims, other than that just a asphalt gray metallic paint.
