Default A4 Rev limiter MIA

Sooo i was in my car today just messing around reving it up in 1st for w/e reason i do not know. But then i noticed it was redlining to 8grand as in the rev limter has gone MIA. Is there a logical explanation for this? the old red line was 6 something but I dont know how this happened.

is it chipped? Most chips raise the rev limiter to some completely un-usable level, if i remember correctly.

It's not completely useless; when figuring optimal shift points for acceleration, based on your first gear's ratio, you might find that the best point is [stock] redline, or a little bit higher.

yea idk if you can buy that chip for the 2.8 but still it has never reved to 8 grand it just burries itself down in the red way at the bottom. It's fun to burry it sumtimes but im pretty sure its not a good thingthat the rev limiter has removed itself lol.

Have you pushed the car really hard before? I'm sure if you drive it hard enough it'll go MIA, but I've never heard of it going missing just from daily driving
