Default Acceleration Hesitation

I have a 2001 a4 quattro. Been running fine. As of two weeks ago, it started hesitating and stuttering when I had to accelerate quickly.

When I reach that point, it sputters and the CEL comes on, blinks for a few seconds, then turns off, and everything is fine.

Any possible ideas what this could be?

HELP!

You are getting missfires. Go have the codes read and it will tell you which cylinders are missfiring.

if u find that it's the coilpacks i suggest u do the plugs too unless they're new and if u have sum money, do the wires too. do sum shiopping though. wires and coilpacks r like 3 or 4 hundred together.

Thanks for the tips. Really appreciate it.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but is it something I could do myself or is it a dealership thing?

Any idea how much this would run at a dealership?

I jsut did the CP replacment over the weekend, easy as hell, Follow the DIY and you shoudl be fine. the easiset way to get the CP out is to use some string or belt, put it behind CP and gently pull up, youll hear it pop up, then you can take off the wires and pull out the CP and plug i would deff go get a new spark plug too i got one for 2 dollars at napa, and now my car runs like it did when i got it.

Default Did you ever figure out what caused the hesitation?

I was wondering if you ever figured this out?

Chances are it was a bad coil pack. Most common culprit of misfires.
