So i was reading about MAFs on a forum and it suggested unplugging the sensor and seeing how your car runs without it's imput. I did this and the car, while not being able to hold an idle ran a little bit better, not really better but different. The choking up when you first start driving was gone, there wasn't much power but a little little bit more. How can i clean out the sensor. The forum i read said that you can spray the wires with electrical cleaner, any other suggestions?

clean it with electronics cleaner that leaves no residue. Your local auto parts store should have some

Update for my little dilema...So I tried spraying some electronic cleaner in the MAF, but i wasn't exactly sure what to spray(do i need to take it apart?). Ok so i was taking it for a spin around my street, i was trying unplugging various sensors to see if anything would change, I had the MAF and the boost sensor ( a black box attached to an intake hose) unplugged. Suddenly the idle jumped up to 1000-1500 and just kept bouncing up and down in that range, i had this once before and while that happened it had a decent amount of power, like i could start up a hill. So i tried driving it and sure enough it had some power, but it still ran very unsteadily (convusions and the likes). O another thing the transmition seems to either be slipping or sumthing, and under heavy throttle i head a sort of chattery mettal sound from uner the car. Does anyone know why i was experiencing any of this? and if so does that give any more hints to the problem? Thanks a bunch!

Get the damn codes read so we can help you.

Without codes you are just guessing and everything is a crapshoot.

Reading the codes will save you a lot of time and a lot of money and a lot of guessing.

Either buy a code reader, or take it to autozone if you can get it there.

Get the codes. Having now fooled around with things there are going to be many misleading codes stored. go to autozone, get the codes read and clear them. Then drive for a while and go back to see what codes have recurred and post them here.
