Default Adding paddle shifters

I'm considering a CPO Audi A4 Quattro. It's an automatic, but doesn't have the sport package installed, and I would like to add paddle shifters (assume by switching out the steering wheel, though I don't know what else it would entail).

My question is: how easy is it to do this DIY? Would a dealer or service center do this on request, and around how much would it cost?

Thanks!

In all honesty, if you want to shift yourself then spend a little more time waiting for a nice CPO to turn up with the sport package and a manual transmission. Im not sure what year or body style youre looking at but if the car didnt come with paddle shift from the factory IMO its not worth it. Even if you can make it work youre still going to have to deal with the way the laggy auto trans shifts and performs. then you'll be looking at trying to chip the transmission or buying a shift kit to get faster, firmer shifts and its just not really all that worth it. If you want to shift then get a manual. paddleshift and shifttronic are useless unless it has a double clutch to back it up.

again. just my .02

Thanks for the advice. I'm a manual transmission driver at heart, but I spend so much time in traffic that I've decided to compromise (I know, I know). But maybe I'll have a rethink on that...
