I recently had my airbag light come on my 97' a4 2.8 and took it to the stealers(dealer). They told me it was an erroniouse(excuse my spelling) fault and they reset it. Its good now. Hope that helps!

well it was a recall, they do have abad ground in the 97 1.8t i would take it to a dealer and say you want all the recall work done, another thing was if you have an auto, was the valve for the brake booster valve won't operate correctly in -4 degree weather, just take it to the dealer and tell them to fix the ground and hopefully they will reset it

The experience with my car was that I put the seat back too far, and it pulled the driver's seat airbag connector somewhat loose, enough that it triggered a fault light. I put the connector solidly back together, zip tied it to keep it in place, and had the fault light cleared - no problem since. From my reading on here, it seems that several others have had the same issue.

Often it is the connector under the passenger side seat. Check to make sure all connections are tight.
