Default Airbag lights and ABS lights

I have an 99 Audi A4 2.8 quattro and for almost a year i had two lights pop up for no reason an airbag light and abs light ive had them rest and scanned a few times but nothing helps. Has anyone experienced this and know what the issue may be?

Im not the smartest man in the world but,, lights generally don't pop on for no reason. Only bit of info I can offer is try to lock up your brakes in the rain if they lock up your ABS control module is probably shot. As far as Air bag light , me personally I would have it checked by a Euro tech.

Do you have a pre or post facelift 99 (small side marker light vs. large rectangular) if you have a pre facelift (small light) then your airbag computer is shot or the clock spring (located in the column) is bad. the airbag computer is 500 and 200 to install and the clockspring varies. Its not a life threatening situation it just means that your airbags arent functional. My airbag light has been on for a year or so now and its just one of those things I've learned to live with.

you have to have it scanned for fault codes because the airbag and ABS lights are on constantly ( which means they are disabled ) or switched off to you

your trusty mechanic can reset the light but it usually resets in a few hours. chances are youre gonna need a computer or clockspring... Or just learn to live with it like I have
