Anyone else have a heavy foot and a weakass CVT?
Hello! I am new and I just went out and bought my 4th Audi. ('84 5000), ('84 4000), ('96 A4 - 2.8q), and now ('02 A4 - 1.8T).
The problem is, i've been out of the audi 'loop', and had no idea that the CVT has to be driven like a Toyota Tercel from the 80s without the transmision falling out on the ground! I've even heard little old ladies with tranny problems!
I have been resigned to driving like a BIOTCH and forgetting about any kind of performance enhancements. I didn't even know until a couple of weeks into the car that it was bad.

The CVT sucks not because of its power capacity, but because of its design flaws.
The fluid has to be changed every 40k, imput shaft problems, valve problems ect.
Chipping it and going BT isn't whats gonna kill it, the faulty designs are.
You could probably run around 400whp with no problems, but it will fail anyway from other causes.
