anyone know the code that results from gassing up w engine running?
I was rushing around the other day and stopped for gas, and forgot to turn the engine off when I went to fill up (I know I know - stupid and preoccupied). What fault is usually registered when that happens? I ask because hiwords and I were scanning through my car yesterday and found an evaporative emissions fault code stored (although it did not trigger a CEL). I am wondering if that could be related?
hey see if u can find a thing for vag com to run the leak detection system on our cars. if u can get ur hands on a working laptop, i'll letu borrow my cable.
Sounds good. I'll do some digging hopefully later tonight. I read a post earlier today about a leak detection pump in the car that will run while you pinch off various hoses and it'll let you know when you've found the right one.
On another note, I got thinking about what it might be that caused it. If you pull your center engine shroud off, there's a corrugated, square plastic tube that runs from one side of the engine to the other, up top and near the front. Mine got a crack in it which I thick-wrapped with electrical tape - I am wondering if that's what triggered it. I'm going to get some vacuum hose and replace the corrugated stuff with it just to be on the safe side.

the easiest way to check if there is a leak is to run the car for a while, then with the car off remove the center engine cover and pull the evap line. if you hear a hissing noise then it should be fine.
that's ur secondary air injection hose. it's the biggest POS hose audi put on our car. just wrap it good with tape and ur good. actually it's probably clogged with carbon so u u might as well clean it or get a new one. i believe ecstuning sells them. i broke mine when i took it off and hit it on my hand so just be careful lol.
