Is APR chip an actual component or is a software upgrade/modification?
Reason I'm asking a question is that the area I live in doesn't have any close licnesed installers on turbo chips but I did come across this local guy who says that APR chip is just a software modification. He said that he can program my car with a chip and that I can try it out for 6 hours before I make my decision wheter I want to buy it or not. He said he can program in APR and some other one that I'm not interested in...he wants $500 for it.
What do you guys think?

it depends on your yr of car. some can get reflashed, like what you are talking about. others are actually physically put in. and yes 500 is a good deal, thats what a APR chip retails for with no added programs. when i got mine i had to pay another hr worth of labor as well.
