I have an Audi A4 3.0. I am looking into changing the timing belt this weekend but first i was curious if it can be done with out the cam position tool. I have done other 2.0/1.8 audi/vws before without andthing like this. Is it possible to do this one with out removing the valve covers and using the cam position tool?

 

You really must have the cam lock tools for your engine.
Notice I said "tools". You need four of them for the 3.0. It is not like the 2.8 where you have a cam locking bar. The 3.0 is the worst model to do the TB change on.
