Default Audi A4 Maintenence

Hello, I am looking into getting a 2000, 2001 Audi A4 1.8L 4dr Sedan. I dont know anything about these cars as far as maintenence goes, now my dad has told me Audis are expensive to fix, i have looked up the common parts that get replaced and some are more expensive than others (I compared it to a honda civic) Also he said the oil has to be changed at the dealer because they need to tilt the engine? I thought you can do it at home just like any other car. Sorry if these questiones seem stupid but i just dont know

So in conclusion can someone get back to me on:

Cost and difficulty of oil changes
Are Audis more expensive to maintain
Are they reliable, if i buy a A4 with 70,000 miles how ong will it last (Oil is changed properly and maintained well)
Are they diffrent from an american or japan car as far as driving, maintence, and cost to maintain

Thanks Everyone.

Avoid the stealership. The only problem with oil changes is reinstalling the
splash guard. Use synthetic engine oil to avoild sludge. Timing belt must
be changed before 90K mi. Find an independent Audi mechanic. Tie rod ends
and the MAF are know problem areas.

its abit more expensive to maintain than a japanese car but when you drive it, you will see why it is worth it........

1. no more than any other car really, except you'll use better (and more expensive) synthetic oil.
2. They are a little more expensive to maintain, but worth it. If you DIY you'll close the gap here quickly.
3. Yes, I feel they are extremely reilable if well maintened.
4. driving => +10 maintenance => -2 Cost to maintain => -1 ability to mod => +7
