Default Audi A4 new buyer question

Hey all! I just registered to this forum. I am interested possibly in an audi a4. Currently I own a 94 Acura Integra LS. It is nice but I want something faster, with a manual trans, and better in the snow. That is why i am considering an a4, the quattro of course. I dont really want to spend more than about 15,000 on one and I have found many that cheap. BUT, I am very new with these cars and have never driven or researched anything about them. I have heard the 1.8 turbo has more mods available. My question is, how fast is it without mods? Also, is it worth putting work into the turbo or just getting the v6?? I would like a pretty decently fast car, not really really fast but...i think you get the point. I was thinking of getting a used WRX but the audi is mucher nicer. The WRX would be plenty fast for me and Im sure the audi cant come close. But please if anyone has any input I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!

the2.8 is a bitfaster stock than the 1.8...but the only engine mod you can do to the 2.8 is a chip(8-10hp)and a supercharger. with the charger on it the total hp is around 290. the mods you can do on a 1.8 are endless...with just a chip you can be faster than a 2.8

here are a few sites

go with audi and not a wrx... wrx is fast but not as refined

Yeah, also , not only will the 1.8T have more power with just the chip, its more nimble and lighter.

Stock, the 1.8t is slower than the acura, with a chip it'll be faster than it. And plus, a turbo is more fun.

hey thanks for the input. i cant believe how much that chip helps. yes i agree aturbo is much more fun andi love thesounds of a turbo. what is some other stuff i cando to the1.8? can i upgrade the fuel system and will that turbo push more psi or do you have to upgrade the turbo??? i am really interested in this because by looking at them they look like such nice cars and i am sure it is morerefined than the wrx. plus, thethough of heated seats and a steering wheel in the winter....ooooooh. well thanks again

there is PLENTY of other mods for 1.8T

the chip will give u more boost, but u can get a bigger turbo (K04) and plenty of other stuff, there are some 1.8T out there tuned to almost 500HP!!!

also another reason for not getting the 'rex is they are known for glass trannies.

500!! wow that is amazing! well hey one more thing about the a4....how are getting parts for them? are they really expensive? somewhere i heard that bmw parts are really really expensive...like 100 bucks for just a brake rotor. audi is a european car right??? I can probably afford the car but i really dont want to pay a ridiculous price for parts, im sure they will be higher but i dont want a major thing like the engine or tranny going and paying 5 grand for it. what are you guys' experience with buying parts??

engines new are aorund $3500 and trannies are around $1000. this can be easily avoided by getting used ones through salvage cars.
