audi a4 valve cover cleaner

Hi, I m new here
I need your help guys with my Audi a4
After I took of the valve cover there is lots carbon , in the cover and the engine .
My question is what cleaner I willl use to clean the carbon and not damage my engine ?
And if there is a cleaner what the name , and how to clean it manualy ?

I've poured Seafoam into the underside of the valve cleaner and used a wire brush to clean it - worked great.

What he said. Lots of elbow grease and patience and it'll come off.

As for the mating surfaces: Use a straight edge razor to get any gunk off of them but DO NOT gouge them as you will possibly ruin the gaskets ability to seat correctly. Take you're time and you'll be fine.
