audi usa vs. oil sludge
Hello everyone, my 2001 a4 1.8t quattro just had the problem with the oil sludge last week. The oil light came on and it started making bad noise so we parked it and had it towed to john holtz audi in rochester ny. I called audi usa and let them know my problem and my concern of not having this covered by warranty if there was damage. Audi told me to get my oil records in place which was near impossible to do since it was just purchased a few months ago but I said I would do what I could. The dealer said I would be responsible for the costs of determining the problem once they removed the oil pan. Well one week later and a few more calls to audi usa and guess what? Everything fixed and ready with no need for me to show any oil receipts or anything. I was very nice to everyone I spoke with the whole time at audi usa & john holtz audi, I let them know that it wasn't their fault but I was hoping they would be cool to me since there is a TSB for this problem. Moral of story - be cool to those you talk to on the phone since they make or break the warranty going through.
my car just squeaked by with the warranty according to the dealer. I have 79,500 and they said after 80k I would have been on my own. my sister was driving when it happened and I'm glad it did - 500 more miles and I would have been paying for the service.
