auto vs. manual
my opinion about a stick car is yea its fun to drive, but the fun doesnt stay forever, i take my friends stick gti vr6 for a spin sometimes its fun for me but he is sick of stick. espcially if you are buying a luxury car i would say get auto you can make them pretty quick for the street but if you want car for just speed machine go for manual.
auto-confort, smooth, luxury
manual-sport, speed
my opinion

personally i dont car, manual is manual, hands down, but tip gives me best of both world, and shifts for me when i just dont feel like moving my feet. the only thing i dont like is a true automatic transmission like in most cars an older audis. i could live with them but for now i like manual, i can say i was active when i get arheritis.

If you don't feel like moving your feet then wow.... I'm pretty sure a corpse has enough energy to drive a stick, I drive stick and it takes me a good 20-30 minuets sometimes just to leave my campus everyday and I'd never call it a work out or something that would make me tired. Yes if you were in it for hours it would be labled 'annoying' but otherwise it's second nature and not even noticable. Anyone that bitches about stick due to traffic or because they don't want to 'move' there feet makes me effing SICK. I will drive stick now till I die, Auto is for girls and it doesn't give you an experience like manual does. Go stick, have some fun, don't be a puss.
Agreed, unless you're like me and want the luxury aspect but also the ability to get moving when you want to, and a 2.8QM falls into your lap in perfect condition for $5k needing zero work and having a one-month-old timing system
There are times when I wish I had an auto (at least in my other car, but that's a manual as well), because some days I just don't feel like shifting. For the most part though, after having owned only manual transmission cars for the last 10 years, I don't even notice shifting anymore. It's kind of like breathing really - you don't know you're doing it until you consciously think about it.
