Avant Turbo upgrade
Hey fellas,
I recently bought an A4 avant q 1.8t as my dd. The shop I work for wants to put some money in to it in order to pentrate the Eurpoean enthusiast market (so much for being a dd). We have decided we would like to be in 300hp range. Talked with TAP and was told the the bottom end holds up well to 350hp. TAP also quoted me for their stage 6 kit and we felt we might be better off fabbing our own, but their seems to be a lack of literature on the subject and even less shops willing to share knowledge. Fabbing also adds the cost of an ems...ouch.
I noticed APR makes kits that reach the figures we are looking for for the VW Passat which is also a longitudinal engine, I believe. Will this kit work with an A4 and is it respected by Audi owners at all? Whoever we work with on this project we wil have to set up accounts and I want to make sure it's with the right companies.

Nolan, I would talk to doose on this subject. He has the fastest avant here. I would look into a gt28rs(like aprs kit) for the best 1/4. And if this is going to be a autox car look into the ko4. Gt28rs makes more hp, but the ko4 and gt28rs make about the same amounts of tq, but the 28rs will always be faster in a straight line. Its really all what you want to use to car for.
This isn't going to be an auto-x car, this will continue to be my daily driver. I am getting comp license for Honda Challenge this year :fingers crossed:
I was just reading up on the gt28rs and numbers look impressive. Does the kit come with everything you need b/c it looks amazingly cheap? I'm guessing it doesn't come with a FMIC. I was looking on ATP's site and it seems too cheap to be true for that kind of power gain, but I might be missing something.

The atp kit comes with maybe half of what you need, and also its not plug and play. You will need to do some fabbing, and its very tricky getting it to run properly. It has potential for around 320whp and 300ft/lbs at the wheels which is about 400 crank hp and 370 crank ft/lbs.
Tom, you're running the 28 would you be willing to give some insight on your full setup, so we can figure out what we need. Fabbing should be fine for the guys here. I am more concerned with engine management. If there is no chip with the kit, will we need to run a stand alone?
