from searching around i think i found the answer to my question. gl5 or gl4?
apparently gl5 is not to be used in the gearbox, it can damage the brass synros. use gl4 instead.
bentley manual says to use G 005 000

One word of advice. Always open the fill plug first.
If you drain your transmission or differential, and find your fill plug is frozen in place,[:@], you are going to have to tow your car to a grage.

Great guide! Is this the same porcedure for a 97 A4 2.8 5spd? Am I going to need the 16mm XZN tool? I have not went under yet to inspect, just thaught I would ask first. Also is Mobile 1 75W-90 the prefered oil?
