B7 Turbo blown
Hello,
I'm about to buy a B7 A4 Quattro with 2.0 TFSI engine and a blown turbo. I don't know all the details, but seems that it is leaking a lot of oil to the exhaust, some mechanic has said that the oil circulation in turbo has been blocked or something.
Any advice on how to sort it out affordably would be welcome.
One option could be to recondition the existing faulty turbo. Another option is to replace it with a reconditioned/repaired one. Or to buy one from eBay, possibly something bigger than the original, but I wouldn't be too keen to start with reprogramming etc. the car at this point. Obviously buying new turbo from Audi would be very expensive.
As I said, any advice would be welcome d
Cheers
Matti

A reman turbo is going to run you say $600+ in parts alone. If you do your own work you can replace for under $1k. Depending on the condition of the car that is close to half it's value ($1800 to $3k). If the turbo is still good and you just have to replace the oil feed line it will be much cheaper. I have not replaced mine (I am going to need to in the next year or two if I keep the car). Right now I don't think (in my case) it would be worth it.
