Bad Gas Mileage??
I get about the same with my QM. I kinda doubt the plugs have been switched recently..is there a way to easily tell if they've been fouled? I also notice that in cold weather the gas mileage goes down but when its around 50 degrees F or so it gets pretty good mileage. This is also when I get the best throttle response. Maybe something to do with the heater?
EDIT: Will the fuel filter affect the gas mileage? Jester, where do you get that "stuff" for your gas tank?

i have been getting 23-24 in my 97 1.8t quattro 5spd around home, not highway/ not city and it has 191,000 miles on it now
only had it for 1100 miles now and the worst i have gotten was 21 and that was running it really hard on the highway mostly 85+ up to 115 for a few short moments...not bad considering the rpms it runs at that speed
remember in the winter there are lots of addititves in your gas that hurt your mileage, it should go up some in the summer.... right along with the price of gas[:-]

I tried Gumout Fuel System Treatment in my last tank and it seemed to help a bit. They say you can do it every 3K. I don't think I bought the Gumount Regain though.. Would it hurt anything if I tried that this time around?

No not necessarily, O2 sensors gradually degrade untill they crap out. I've had good results running Gumout Regain in my gas. Added 50 miles per tank.

General, I live in Philly and i get right about the same milage as you do.. 20-22 city, 25-27ish Hwy.
I think your getting right about what you should.
I also agrre with brr's comment which seems to have been overlooked....
"That is in line with what Audi has specified for the car - they never claimed that the A4 gets great mileage. "
Who-ever told you that you should expect 30mpg was out of their mind... 20-25 is right about avg.
Face it, AWD uses up more gas.... it's a fact, AWD cars dont get great gas mileage.
You can add all the additives you want, change your plugs weekly, even clean out your gas tank with a lambs-skin cloth monthly, but you know what... your still gonna get 20ish mpg city driving.. sorry
oh , BTW .. how about those Falcons.....lol .... GO EAGLES !!!!!!!!!!

General Jackson, I did 3 or 4 treatments. I just dumped a bottle in on every fillup.
i have a v6 30v and i get around 16-17 mpg but i rarely go on the freeway. Should i check my plugs (i know o2 sensor is working just fixed)? Where can u get the gumout stuff?
