Bad Gas Mileage??
using the same fuel. cold air will always give more power than warm air due to greater density (more oxygen)!! its the same when you drive your car at high altitude..air is less dense therefore less power is made!!
I too am back to my bad gas mileage problem. I spoke to the tech who installed my Revo flash and he recommended that I change my plugs to a colder plug and replace the coolant temp sensor, I thought maybe it may be related to my DV since I was still running the stock one. I finally got my Forge DV in the same guy who relished my ECU. The only thing I have left to do or replace the coolant temp sensor with the green top one I got from the dealer, but I can't locate this under hood of my 02 A4 1.8T Q-TIP.
im 17 and drive about the same distance every week, seems to be about 160 miles a week, city, and i do have a heavy foot but i dont thing its too bad. so i get about 160 miles per tank! and on a 15 gallon tank, i think thats what i have...1999 a4 quatro 1.8T thats about 10 miles per gallon if im doing the math right. i have a bottle of fuel system cleaner in my tank right now and im hoping it'll make a differnece. But 10 miles per gallon seem extremely low. BTW i use 93 octance gas
I got my car back from the dealer and they changed a vacum hose and the MAF sensor. The 40K service was done last month. Still getting crappy gas mileage - I just don't get it! I'm at about 22mpg right now, which is not so good. Even the head tech at the dealership said that was too low for a '01 1.8T FWD with 41K on it...
I guess I'll just keep bringing it back until I get to the bottom of this. Hopefully my persistence will help some yall figure out why your not getting great mileage too.
