Bad Gas Mileage??
Dear APG96,
please try not to steal other people's threads.
Please also try to learn a little bit about cars by buying a book about general car maintenance. Haynes makes a very nice manual for Audi which you can purchase for 15 dollars which will answer many questions regarding the A4 and general car maintenance.
The internet, specifically google is a great resource. Make the effort to try to learn things rather than asking other people to do work for you.

Real funny about our Falcons..
- I was born in Boston, so I guess I got the last laugh when the Patriots shut the Eagles down. Ok, ok.. Enough about Football, back to the cars.
I don't have AWD on my 1.8T, it's FWD. Why wouldn't I be getting better gas mileage? If other members are, I should too.. I think I'll take Jestnomen's advice and put some Gumout Regain in the next couple fillups. Maybe I'll try the Redline & Techron too. I'll see if that helps. If it doesn't, maybe I'll change my 02 sensor and then after that, I'll just live with my poor gas mileage.
Also, I'm gonna search for some specs on the 2001 1.8T FWD gas mileage. I'm pretty sure I remember it was supposed to be in the upper 20's, lower 30's per manufacture specs.
Thank you for the advice thus far everyone.

Man... I can't believe we're not getting better mileage. I just don't understand why they claim these cars get great mileage if they really don't get it in realistic driving conditions. I'd really like to see what kind of mileage everyone else is getting.

regardless of FWD or AWD - you will never reach a 30 mpg average.
Gumout or Techron (I use techron) will help clean injectors, etc... It usually
has some posititve effect if your car has some age - or if you run lower grade gas normally (aka 89-91 oct)

I use 93 ocatane and my car only has 39,800 miles on it. It just doesn't make sense that my car is getting 20mpg. I have done the 40K service and I have had the throttle body cleaned. I have also gone through a tank of fuel with Gumout Injector cleaner.. WTF!! Not sure about the oil grade, but it's whatever the dealer used. I know it is synthetic and has the larger filter.
During wintertime 10% or more drop in fuel economy is normal in the colder climates. Cold air is denser so you burn more of it and you burn more going through it as well. Also Oxygenated fuels made to reduce smog emissions don’t have the same energy content further robbing you of MPG’s.
But, I live in Atlanta and it doesn't get very cold at all. It's about 60 degrees today and it has been in the 50's for a while now. Also, I do a decent amount of highway driving. Not a ton, but about 20% of my driving is highway - I run about 65-85 mph. I think I'm gonna do an amsoil engine flush/oil change. I figured it can't hurt anything to do that...
I get about 26.2 miles to a galon with my 01 1.8t and i do city driving a lot, and i do rip it up somestimes thats when i see my gas going thru like water hehehe, but hey GJ where are you at in Atlanta, because i'm on the north side, Cumming Lake Lanier that area?? Peace
