Best Bulbs for 2003 A4
What are the best bulbs that would look good on my car?
I don't have HIDs.... but would like to replace the factory bulbs.
any additional work besides changing the bulbs out?
suggestions?

Hey,
I bought a few bulbs to see the differences. I don' have HID either. I bought the XD5 5800K and a PIAA SUPER BRIGHT 4000K.
Color temperatures don't mean much in terms of brightness. The intensity in terms of wattage is more important.
The 5800K says 85watt from 55 w and the piaa says 110-115 watt from the 55 w.
I installed the 5800k and it has a slight blue tint in it. Looks kinda neat.
Next i installed the piaa lights ....... The blue was gone. The lights seemed just as bright as the 5800K.
The only difference is when u go on the road. The piaa shoot further out .... the 5800K don't shoot out as far .
Honestly, the piaas aren't worth 100$ or even 80$ on ebay. I suggest 1). You want HID effect ...buy the HID conversion.
2). Buying these standard H7's are a cheap fix. Get something like the XD5 because Piaa isn't worth it.
Hoped that helped.
Cheers,

I definately vote for PIAA as the best halogen bulb... buuuut as already mentioned, not so sure they are worth the money. Spending 80-120 on a pair of bulbs is a chunk out of a HID conversion for sure... and you'd be much -- MUCH happier with HIDs
honestly, the amount you'd spend on PIAA halogen bulbs is probably more than an HID conversion...the lifespan of those bulbs is crap, whereas HIDs will most likely last you several years
i got NOKYA brand from ebay, this is like the 3'rd or 4th car i've had them on., they last a long time.
here's a pic of them
Nokya headlight bulb on the right, fog light (stock bulb color) in the middle

they re like 25 shipped or so

I bought PIAA's for my dad's old 1990 VW passat like 3 or 4 years ago, and they are still going strong... So I will vouch for PIAA's quality, but yeah... the HID conversion definately makes more sense.
