Default Boost issues:

Okay, after i got my car chipped, i was running 18 psi through 3-4k rpm. then i found a boost leak, and started goingup to 21 psi and holding steady at 15 after and the surging i was experiencing stopped. then, it dropped to a 15-16 psi peak and like 10 hold. well, i thought it was my stock DV, so i got a baileys DV, and it didnt help it. I just ran a pressure test with teh tennis ball (BTW, that DIY sucks a huge one. i had to coat the entire tennis balla nd valve with 1/4 to 1/2centimeter layer of electrical tape and i still had leaks in it. and it took like 2 minutes jsut to pump my system up tp 3 psi)

well, there is no boost leak. anyone know where my boost is going? or is my turbo going? but generally i thought when turbos go, they jsut go fast.

Have you looked for vacum leaks or just boost leaks? With your 2 problems you have posted about I almost think it is the turbo.

but its not leaking through the system. if there is a leak, its internal, through a valve or whatnot

When engines are shut off before the turbo has cooled enough the bearing remains expanded longer while the seal cools. The bearing damages the seal. Or the turbo was just ready to go. They say to lets the car idle 3-5 minutes to allow turbo to cool before shutting off motor. The weird thing is the smoke stopped you said. If you let the car sit overnight and it happens again I was guess the oil is leaking through the seal and pooling in the turgo when sitting and the leak is not bad enough to smoke and smell real bad when the engine is warm and the residue buildup has burned off.

hmm, i have driven the car with it cold now, no smoke i dont think (but it was dark) but still the smell. and whenever i drive hard, i let my car idle to cool the turbo. i dont think the smoke and the boost are related tho. the boost has had issues for a while now and the smoke started today.

i was experiencing the same issue that u had, no leaks,no codes, peaked at 16 and settled at 12ish, i ended up changing my DV to a 007 which didnt fix it. so i changed those lil hoses from the dv to the mani and such which actually fixed my problem. now peaks at 20ish and settles at 16. try changing those lil hoses if u havnt already.

are you talking of the vaccume hose from the DV or the boost release hose. but either way...im not seeing how it could effect it. i did a pressure test, adn it seamed to be okay. and the line going from the DV to the intake after the MAF before the turbo is compleetly unbpressurezed turing acceleration so i dont see how it could leak

but either way, was it all three hoses? one of em is only a few inches, i believe form the DV to the pressurized line running ot the interdcooler.
