huh...anyone have any personal experience with the b5 dbw 1.8 quattro top speeds?...The fastest i have gone was like 128, and I was in 5th cruising at somewhere around 5.5k....when you get chipped by giac your top end "governor" is eliminated right?...and your red line is raised to 7k correct?.... I guess i need a chip and some bigger wheels to find out for sure, but anyone who has some first hand experiences....I'd really like to hear it from the "horses" mouth (so to speak)....thanks!

 

ya the gearing will allow you to get up to 162 with a chipped 1.8t. will you? no. because the amount of torque you have left wont be able to overcome its aerodynamics, or lack there of, to get you there.. so you'll probably only see close to 150. maybe a little more if you have a downhill. but these are speeds you shouldn't be at if you're not on a track..


hell there is a guy, mike hood, who has a setup that will allow him to get to 204mph in his 1.8t. but thats with a 2.8 trans, 8500rpm redline and 500+Awhp. he say's he'll never test that out though

 

My 235 35 19's droped my freeway rpm by 200-300 at 80mph and I think it was for the better.......

 

Possibly, but now your odometer and speedometer are off by an aquivalent amount.
