Default Brake Pad/Sensor Wire Question

Looking to upgrade the brake pads on my 01 1.8T Quattro - I noticed over at ECS Tuning and other sites that they reference sets with and without sensor wires. Do both the front and rear wheels require the pads to have sensor wires? Any help would be appreciated.

Cool, thanks. That's what I gathered but wasn't 100% sure.

there are 3 different types of the sensor connectors so be sure to get the right ones most sites show u a pic of the connectors the easyest way to figure it out is turn your wheel all the way to one side and look in the gap u should see it acthched to a little bracket. 1 connector is round the other is round square the third is ????? i was told by ajusa.com that there was a third when i ordered my ebc red stuff brakes from them

You could always get the cheaper front pads without the sensor and then you just have to jump the wires on the wire that is supposed to connect to the sensor to keep your brake pad wear warning light from coming on.. Or something like that.

Just for next time, use the search as this has been asked many many times.

And you don't really need the sensor. You should know when your break pads are getting down when they make noise. I didn't bother with the sensor, clipped the wires and closed the circuit.

just look at ur pads every few times you fill up with gas, it take about a second to see what condition they are in

Default RE: Brake Pad/Sensor Wire Question

I just called my local Audi dealership... I need a new set of wires for the brake pad warning system.

I purchased the pads without the sensor wires and know that I can jump the two wires together, but it seems as though the connector that plugs into the sensor is stripped the a little f'ed up. I called to find out if i could just get the connector but they said that they only come attached to the pads and they cannot get me what i need. does anyone know of a solution? the only quick fix thing i can think of is to remove the plug all together and jump it right where the wire is supposed to plug in. Kinda ghetto but I'm pretty sure it will work. next time I'll be getting the appropriate pads so there will be none of this nonsence. Any advice would be greatly appreciated though. Thanks!!!!
