Default brake problem

ive had my 2000 1.8t quatto for about a month and just recently ive got an intermittent abs light and also noticed a noise coming from the passenger side front wheel. its a swishing noise and almost sounds like my brake pad is constantly making contact with the rotor. also when i brake the car pulls to the right a bit. im thinking my caliper is shot. any other ideas?

Clean the wheel sensors. Make sure brake fluid is full.

sounds like a seized/seizing caliper, or glazed rotors, which can be caused by a seized caliper which in the long run will warp your rotors and eventually cause your brake pedal to pulse when you brake. But if its pulling to one side, its probably time for a new/rebuilt caliper/rotors.

did you know the bolts holding the caliper on are actually pistons and have to work freely so the breaks release properly this is an area which is neglected when servicing breaks

thanks for the replys fellas, appreciate the help. yea im going to go ahead and order new front rotors and pads this weekend as the rotors are pretty worn. i saw some brembo cross drilled rotors on ebay for about $125 a pair for the fronts, sounds like a good deal....ive also been reading the tech articles on audizine or audiworld (i forget which) and they talk about cleaning and greasing up the bolts that hold the caliper on so im definetly going to try that before i replace the caliper.

all parts are serviceable, brembo drilled and crossed means less life on the pads but that's ok if you drive that way "definitely an improvement at a cost" but that's your choice

if you drive it hard the consider changing the break fluid to higher spec to prevent break fade
