im buying a GIAC chip from (dtownhotcorner). Its just the chip, the car is a 98,what im wondering is if i could possibly solder the chip onto my ecu myself or should i bring it to a dealer and have them do it. Anyone else here ever solder their own chip..?

Thanks

haha aright, i almost wish it was apr cause i have a dealer 15 min away, the nearest giac dealer is an hour and a half....my buddy is pretty good friends with the apr guys so maybe they'd do it, but im not sure if they'd be to happy since giac seems to be there leading competetor...maybe ill jsut take the hour and a half drive, atleast it would be a fun drive back.

I'd definitely take it to a dealer, even if you could do it yourself. If anything were to go wrong, they would be responsible and not you. messing up your car's computer is not something I'd want to mess with.
