I have a 96 A4 and the A/C temp won't change no matter what temp you have it set at. I have ran the trouble codes on the head unit of the A/C and it pulled a 8.5 trouble code which is "Temperature Regulator Flap, static block". Does anyone know what this might be and if so how to fix it? I am dreading going to the stealership on this one. I have had this problem before and when I tried to pull the code it must have reset something because it started working just fine. No such luck this time.

what was the actual code number that you pulled?

The temperature regulator flap directs the air over the heater core or the AC core. Could be short circuit, dead motor, or mechanical blockage

 

I got the code 8.5 when I push the recirculation button and the up arrow above the recirculation button. Then I refrenced it by using the write up on audiworlds site. It refrences Temperature regualtor flap static block. I also got a 1c code this morning when I tried it again. I guess that is just refrencing that there is a system malfunction. I have not tried to pull any codes using a code reader.

May be a stupid question but do you know where this flap or the heater core is located? This doesn't sound like a DIY.
