Can ESP be installed on a non-ESP 2000 A4?
I searched for this but couldn't find anything. I have a 2000 2.8 quattro WITHOUT ESP and want to know if I can install it? Can you just change the control module or do you also need to change the ABS hydraulic unit. I belive I have a Bosch 5.3 unit. I know I would also need to get the ESP dash switch. The 2001 models had the option of ESP. So can I get parts from them? I am also confused on EDL do the US cars come with that along with ESP? Any help would be much appreciated.
ESP needs to know which way the car is facing and how it's changing.
Asteering wheel sensor is also needed.
ABS with traction control is used. The ABS module needs to be re-programmed
for ESP. The $440 I paid 6 years ago seems very reasonable now.

The 2000 Quattro all-wheel drive system without ESP/EDL sucks campared to the 80's and early 90's system with mechanical differential locks. I was better off in the snow with my 1985 4000 quattro then with my 2000 A4. I'm interested in the not getting stuck in the snow.
