Just Installed HID's
Ok so I know creating a post on HID's is drawn out and I know the end result will be dragonrage destroying my post, but its worth it. I ordered DDM's 55w 6000k slim ballast kit. Having heard good things about there systems I decided to spend the wopping $73. Took them about 8 days to get to my door standard UPS. They look unbelievable, no more yellow tint, and deffinetly not that obnoxious blue tint(sorry people who like that tint). The only thing I didnt like about the install process was the fact that you had to drill a rather large sized hole in the low beam "door" in order to route the wiring from the bulb to the ballast. Seems like a small price to pay for the added visions, plus its a rubber grommet that fills the hole you create. Creating a nice cut-off was key and actually very easy to adjust. All in all I would say this is a must have mod for all projector type headlamps. By the way I do not have a headlamp bulb out light displayed, I suppose its because the stock bulb is a 55w rather then a 35w. Now I am seriously thinking about converting the fogs to HID's....
Do it!
As for the bulb-out warning, I'm not sure what year people started getting that but it has to do with impedance rather than power I believe. Both my low beam and fog light HID systems are 35w and I never got a warning.
Let me know if you have any questions about converting fogs to HID. It's definitely worth it.

Ya man im in love again
. The only problem im having with the fogs is where to properly mount the ballast. I wan't a secure location where I can mount the ballast well and not have it slapping around and what not. Im a bit of a perfectionist so any sloppy work drives me freaking nuts. I'm gonna have to check up on what wattage my fogs are before making the move.

I have 3000k 55w HID's from ddm in my fog lights, they look amazing (yes they are yellow, but they are pure yellow. I find it fits nice with a silver b5) and i dont have a "bulb out" warning. For the $73 it is definitely worth the money and at night you can see almost everything without turning on your highbeams...
^ That's exactly why I got 35w DDM for my fogs but later found out the OEM bulbs are also 55w and those I think get hotter. As far as where to mount the fog ballasts, I drilled two small holes on the radiator support underneath the headlamps and mounted the ballast to underneath the radiator support with nylon tie wraps holding them in place through both holes. It looks clean and they don't move a bit, and since they are inside the radiator support, no water gets to them since I also have the engine splash cover underneath.
Ive had them for about a month and a bit now... haven't seen any problems so far, ill take a fog lamp out and check tomorrow. At this point they are most likely going to stay in there, or i wont have fog lights if things start to melt.
So 35w's don't throw a light out indicator for the fogs? Anyone here know what the relay mod is for the fogs? Just trying to get some idea as to what thats gonna take. Everything I do to my car I try to make reversable, not really sure how easily reversable the fog light relay mod would be.
On my 99.5 I have no warning lights relating to lights whatsoever. I'm running 55W DDM 8000K low beams and 35W Xentec 6000K in fogs.
Here's the link to the DIY: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext11.shtml
I haven't done the mod because I'm waiting for the weather to get warmer in NY but I think it's non-reversible. This mod requires you to reconnect some pins by soldering according to the DIY.
