i was refering to the fact that almost every jap car has an interchangable motor that requires next to no modification. where wiht other cars it is not quite so easy

I'm poking around here thinking about buying an Audi myself, and one concern is the quality of the community I'd be joining in the process. That said, whyis your reaction a polar opposite from the E46'ers response to a similar idea there?

 

Because its not an M3.

Its simple economics. It can be done, but at a cost and amount of work far far greater than just selling it and buying an s4 instead.

 

Theoretically, it would be possible to make an S4 engine fit in an A4, but it would take lots of $ to do so. Anything is possible with the right amount of money. It would be cheaper to just sell the A4 and get an S4. Take a look at the guys who made a 5-series BMW from a Civic:

The same principle applied to the E46 M3 engine swap. ESS tuning makes a twin screw supercharger for the 323i that puts power output on par with that of the M3 engine, and the 323i would still be significantly lighter. This is much more cost effective than an M3 engine swap, but he chose to do it anyway, and the community there volunteered their knowledge and encouraged him, rather than balking and complaining that their time was being wasted by yet another engine swap thread.

 

since this thread reappered, i suggest spending $45k and just making it 5 series bmw.
