"vag" is short for vag-com, it's an obd tool for checking error codes, resetting CELs, and tons of other really dope things. They're kinda pricey, but definitely worth it.

here's the site, you need to buy a cable to connect your car to a laptop and the ross-tech software.

 

its a tool that plugs into the port right above the hood release latch under ur steering wheel....it helps diagnose most engine tranny etc problems that you may have...basically pinpoints the prob for you....theyre pricy but i know that autozone can run the check for free and theres a link with a bunch of people who have their own vag's that are willing to share...

the autozone thing is pretty handy, i've used it a couple times. but vag-com is by far the best, it has way more codes that the others don't pick up. and i'm pretty sure there's alot of other benefits to the vag over everything else.

Also, on the newer ones they act as a dongle so only the Vag-Com has to be activated and can be used on multiple PC's...like in my case using my GF's roommates until her laptop gets fixed that I dropped...or you can get a laptop with the required specs on Ebay for about $100-150 and use it kind of like a dedicated Vag-Com machine...

 

Yes, you can also use it to treak your engine settings, and reprogram many of the other electronic features on the car.
