Default Car Broke Down.. (at 29,000 km)..MAF?

On the way up to the cottage my car suddenly lost power and died... seemed to have been in the middle of boost coming of a nice hill on a windy road... anyway.. it would start up..but idle rough and die..smelled fuel.. and when I floored it it would go to maybe 4k..then die again..

I unplugged the MAF and it started up... boost was non-existant even though I could hear the turbo spin... Drove it home from the lake and it felt like I had 100hp engine in the car...

I have a drop-in filter... and read on here that this might have caused me a problem.

Anyone with any ideas? I'm thinking it's probably just the MAF and would like to change it out.. not sure if I should go back to a stock filter as well.

THanks for ALL Comments on this issue... my search in the forum left me with questions.

Could be anything, but you have 29K Km on a 2005 and should be covered by warranty. LEt them worry about it. ? Boost leak?

Any codes?

NO codes yet... I just got home. CEL is on... i'm going to put in on Stock Mode (REVO) and take it in in the morning to them... do you think there is an issue with my unhooking the MAF so I could drive home?

Sounds like the drop in is the culprit. You might have clogged a sensor... did you notice anything happening before this? Sounds from the turbo or loss of power?

Nothing noticed prior... running up to the cottage varying from 140km/h to 230km/h.... following my friend's CBR600.. Was running great... then 'poof'... noticed it as i let off the gas mid-boost... it just died. I saw another thread where the gent thought it was his fuel pump before finding out it was his MAF...same symptoms.

we'll see in the morning..

THis is interesting. One of the hoses to the FMIC had come off.... Owasco Audi tested the computer... changed the MAF...and then found the true culprit.. in 1.5 hours..i was impressed..and the car was washed...

THumbs up to Owasco Audi (contrary to a prior posting)... they were very good to moi.

Another thought on this.... my boost seems much stronger now..just like when it was first done (the intercooler first put on). ...the hose probably was leaking slightly until the check engine like came on. WIth the hose on now the car pulls amazing... if you put your foot on the gas wihtout pressing it down all the way the turbo will kick in and pull the car along like a banshee.
