Trouble starting on a Hill.....
2001.5 A4 1.8T, FWD, Tip, w/ 46K
Lately I've noticed that when I park my car in my driveway and go out to start it in the morning, it has trouble cranking on the first try. It takes the second attempt before she cranks. It only happens when the car has been sitting on the incline overnight. It's pulled in straight, not backed in, with the nose of the car towards the sky.
If it's on flat ground I have no problems at all. Any ideas!?!?!
Thanks,
General Jackson

RE: Trouble starting on a Hill.....
When you park at an angle, all of the fluids are moved back. It's hard to explain, the fluids that normally are sitting flat in their containers are now pushed up at an angle. The fuel will get partially cut off from the engine. You may even have other troubles with the transmission catching if it's been sitting for a while. No real harm done to the car so long as you take it easy getting down the slope and let the car sit at idle for a minute before you take off.

For the sake of the experiment, back into the driveway, so that you are nose-low, and see what happens.
(Probably flood the engine, but what the hell, it's in the interest of science)
