Sounds like a Coil Pack or a Ignition Control Module... So if the misfire was on cylinder 1 try swapping that coil pack with another one and then vag it again. If the misfire moves to the other cylinder you know it is the Coil Pack. Also, check the plugs...

i checked out the maintence records that where in the service book, plugs never been changed, i changed the spark plugs still had the code, so i bought an ignition coil, did i buy the rite one? when i went to change it seemed like it was different in a whole lotta ways heres some pics of it. let me know so i can go back to the parts store to exchange it. thanks

first off what type of car year, make, model, and mileage. second those are coil packs for the AWM, AUG and AMB engine code which I belive is 2000 and up so if your pre 99.5 those are the wrong coilpacks, you need to use the "beru" ones. you may also want to check the ICM aka ignition control modual located in the top of the airbox with the two connecters going to it and if you change your plugs you should use NGK BKR6E's
